A new education policy law was introduced in Saudi Arabia after the King approved it,strengthening the framework. The motive of this policy is to develop the country’s education sector. New laws provided a framework of education policy for all stages of general education from early childhood through Grade 12. It also reinforces the role of families in students’ educational development while expanding support for early childhood education, gifted learners, and students with disabilities through more inclusive educational services.
Education Minister Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan welcomed the Royal Decree, thanking Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for backing the reform. He described the legislation as a major milestone that strengthens the operational and regulatory framework of Saudi Arabia’s education system and supports ongoing modernization efforts.
The Ministry of Education will now work with relevant government bodies to finalize executive regulations governing the implementation of the law. The new system also replaces the previous Adult Education and Literacy Law, while transitional provisions will remain in place until updated regulations are issued by the General Education Affairs Council within the specified implementation period.
