Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and CEER, Saudi Arabia’s first homegrown electric vehicle brand, signed a memorandum of understanding. the motive of this agreement is to work together to develop advance material and manufacturing solution to strengthen the electric vehicle (EV) industry. The partnership supports Saudi Arabia’s brotherhood vision to build a competitive automotive ecosystem under Vision 2030.
The memorandum of understanding is signed by SABIC’s headquarters in Riyadh and will set out the guidelines for reviewing the ways SABIC’s sophisticated materials and technologies could be incorporated in the designing and manufacturing of CEER’s electric cars. Additionally, the collaboration will look into the commercial possibilities of further cooperation between both firms.
The agreement was signed in the presence of SABIC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Faisal Alfaqeer and CEER Chief Executive Officer James DeLuca. Beyond materials development, both companies plan to work together on innovative processing technologies, exchange expertise in sustainability and engineering, and identify new opportunities that support the long-term growth of Saudi Arabia’s EV sector.
A key focus of the collaboration is the development of a stronger domestic supply chain capable of supporting electric vehicle manufacturing to international standards. The companies will explore strategic sourcing opportunities within the Kingdom while encouraging greater localization of automotive production and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
CEER, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, is leading the Kingdom’s ambitions to establish a local electric vehicle manufacturing industry. SABIC, one of the world’s largest chemical companies, already supplies advanced materials used by global automakers to improve vehicle performance, durability and sustainability. By combining these capabilities, the two companies aim to accelerate innovation while supporting Saudi Arabia’s transition toward cleaner mobility solutions.
