This week the value of Arab currency declined against the Egyptian pound’s trading. As per the latest exchange rate published by the National Bank of Egypt.
According to exchange figures, major currencies of the Gulf region are the Kuwaiti dinar, Saudi riyal, UAE dirham, Qatari riyal, and Jordanian dinar. The exchange rates of these currencies saw slight changes. As per the experts, routine fluctuations in Egypt’s foreign exchange market continue as banks adjust rates in line with market conditions.
Among the listed currencies, the Kuwaiti dinar remained the highest-valued Arab currency. The National Bank of Egypt quoted the currency at EGP 159.82 for buying and EGP 164.82 for selling.
The Saudi riyal, one of the most widely traded foreign currencies. in Egypt due to travel for Umrah and Hajj as well as commercial activity, was priced at EGP 13.45 for buying and EGP 13.51 for selling. Meanwhile, the UAE dirham stood at EGP 13.77 for buying and EGP 13.81 for selling.
The Qatari riyal was quoted at EGP 12.85 for buying and EGP 13.92 for selling, while the Jordanian dinar reached EGP 70.61 for buying and EGP 71.68 for selling, according to the bank’s latest update.
Exchange rates for Gulf currencies are closely monitored in Egypt because of strong economic ties with the region. Millions of Egyptians work across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, making currencies such as the Saudi riyal and UAE dirham important for remittances. Seasonal demand for the Saudi riyal also typically rises during the Hajj and Umrah periods, while the UAE dirham benefits from robust trade and investment links between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
