Lebanon resumes exports to Saudi Arabia through the Al-Masnaa border crossing

Lebanon has initiated its efforts to restore land-based exports to Saudi Arabia through the Al-Masnaa border crossing point, re-establishing an important export route for the exporters of Lebanon, which had been shut down for quite some time. The authorities of Lebanon have set up a system for inspecting trucks at the border crossing point on Thursday, preparing for the resumption of commercial transport.

This move will come as a huge relief for exporters from Lebanon, especially the agricultural industry. Restoration of economic ties with Saudi Arabia and the broader Gulf area holds supreme significance for Lebanon.

Lebanon’s Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, welcomed Saudi Arabia’s decision to resume imports of Lebanese goods and thanked the Kingdom’s leadership for the move. He also said the Al-Aboudieh crossing is expected to reopen within weeks, potentially creating another route for cross-border commercial activity.

The Al-Masnaa crossing connects Lebanon with Syria and serves as one of the country’s principal land gateways for movement toward regional markets. Its role is particularly important for Lebanese products that depend on road transport to reach destinations beyond Syria.

The resumption follows Saudi Arabia’s decision to lift its ban on Lebanese products after an interruption that had lasted around four years. The development has prompted Lebanese truck operators and exporters to prepare for renewed commercial activity toward the Kingdom.

The reopening comes against a backdrop of continued efforts to restore movement across Lebanon’s land borders with Syria. Earlier disruptions had affected both passenger movement and freight traffic, highlighting the importance of reliable border infrastructure for Lebanon’s trade-dependent sectors.

For Lebanese exporters, renewed access to the Saudi market could improve logistics options and reduce pressure on businesses seeking to move agricultural and manufactured goods into Gulf markets.

The expected reopening of additional crossings could further strengthen Lebanon’s overland trade network and support the gradual restoration of commercial flows between Lebanon, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
